The nuchal ligament is a ligament of intervertebral syndesmosis [ligamentum syndesmosis intervertebralis ] which extends at the tip of vertebral spines [processus spinosus vertebrae ] from the occipital bone [os occipitale ] to the seventh cervical vertebra [vertebra prominens ], where caudally it is continuous with the supraspinal ligament [ligamentum supraspinale].
